Dungeons Tale

I was tired. The dungeon has proven itself hard and consuming. As I walked through a narrow, cold and dark stone hall, I saw a crackling light coming from an open door. As I approached, I could hear, besides the tinkling sound of my father’s sword, a calm and welcoming sound of a lute being fingered slowly.

As I walked pass the door, I could see and elder man, with a long white beard, his deep and clear blue eyes staring at me with a welcoming smile. He was wearing a green robe with golden details, in front of him, besides the bonfire, there was an orb, filled with an ever-turning grey fog. As I came closer, and before I could speak a word, my eyes were magically driven to the orb, that started to change as the man began:

 

“…A help you’ll need, to get further beyond.

Look for the hidden door, in the room you’re on.

Find the Spear of Light, in this quest you’ll need

It shall guide you through, and help you lead.

It lies in a chest that you’ll have to choose

If the one on the left, you won’t loose.

As the enemy at the end, challenging is

Look for the witch, from the abyss.

The Spear will show the path ahead

and will also be strong, against the rising undead.

Once arriving, upon the abyss fae

A tribute for her, you will have to pay.

If something personal, to the witch you give,

A gift from her, you shall receive.

The Abyss Vessel, so the enemy you seal

Be sure to use it, and the enemy won’t heal.

The hostile is rough, but rest assured

With these two items, you have enough.

A blood sucking monster, you’ll have to beat

Keep your faith up, and you will defeat.

As the enemy you outlive, stronger you feel

But don’t be silly, it starts something new.

A terrifying maze, comes in place

As you are stronger, you can face.

When in doubt, of which way to go

Look for the spear, and the way will be shown.

As the labyrinth goes, and comes to an end

You’ll finally reach, where you hoped to attend.

The Queen’s grave is here, and tears you spill

Your wife is truly gone, and sadness you feel.

You can go your way back, to the kingdom you had

Or stay with your love, and share the same bed...”

 

As the man’s voice began to fade, I realize I’ve been starring at the orb, that gave me glimpses of what the man had just told me. As the fog ceased, I looked up, and the man was no longer there. I picked myself together, and started looking for a hidden door.
